🚴 Ride Navigation

Along with the Trek Travel guides (one leading the ride and another sweeping or driving the support van), there are two handy ways to navigate:

1. Garmin 1030 GPS

  • Every bike comes with one.
  • Shows speed, distance, maps, and turn-by-turn directions.
  • Quick video tutorial.

2. Ride with GPS App

  • Stores your daily routes, hotel info, and guide contacts right on your phone.
  • Gives you route options with turn-by-turn directions.
  • Trek Travel will send code to login shortly before the ride.
  • Watch the tutorial.
  • Step-by-step instructions (PDF).
  • Pro tip: Download the app before you leave home so you’re ready to go.

👟 Bike Shoes

A few questions have come up about bike shoes. From experience, we’ve found that mountain bike shoes or flat pedals work best on tours since you’ll often be walking around towns, exploring villages, or sightseeing off the bike. They make it easier (and more comfortable) to enjoy the whole experience.

🎒 Packing & Weather

  • Spring & Fall (Apr, May, Jun, Sep, Oct): Sunny, pleasant days with cool evenings.
  • August & early September: Hotter days, cooler nights.
  • Rain: Less likely in summer, but always possible—pack light rain gear just in case.
  • The Mistral Wind: This famously strong wind can pop up and cool things down quickly. Layers are your best friend!

And just a heads-up—a Trek Travel jersey isn’t included on this trip, so bring your commemorative bike jersey.
